It was a chilly Sunday morning in Franciacorta for the OK-Junior Super Heats of the Winter Series at just 8° despite the clear skies.
Nathan Tye (Sodi/TM) took the lead for a short time on the first lap of Super Heat 1, but Anatoly Khavalkin (Parolin/TM) immediately regained the lead. A red flag interrupted the race after an incident in the pack. At the restart 25 minutes later, Khavalkin was leading ahead of Tye, with Jan Przyrowski (Tony Kart/Vortex) 3rd at 7 tenths. Tye put pressure on Khavalkin while Enzo Tarnvanichkul (Tony Kart/Vortex) moved up to 3rd and closed the gap on the leading duo. Tye took the lead on the sixth of 10 laps. Khavalkin replied two laps later, but Tarnvanichkul stole the show and won. With 2nd, Khavalkin kept the pole position for the upcoming Final. Tye secured 3rd place despite the threat of Maciej Gladysz (LN/Vortex) and René Lammers (Parolin/TM) was 5th. Jules Caranta (KR/Iame) had made up four places in 14th position before dropping back to 19th due to a badly positioned spoiler while Jimmy Helias (Tony Kart/Vortex) finished 16th.
Kirill Kutskov (Birel ART/TM) was followed by Andres Cardenas (Energy/TM) and Douwe Dedecker (KR/Iame) in the first lap of Super Heat 2 as the slow procedure was initiated following several incidents. The start was placed under investigation. Alfie Slater (LN/Vortex) was no longer on track. The race was restarted on the fourth lap over the line. Oleksandr Bondarev (LN/Vortex) was soon back in 3rd place. Cardenas briefly took the lead at the halfway point, but Kutskov reacted immediately, Bondarev moved up to 2nd and then attacked Kutskov twice to take the lead. Lucas Fluxa Cross (KR/Iame) came back in 2nd ahead of Cardenas and Kutskov. The battle continued until the finish. Bondarev won clearly against Cardenas, with Kutskov 3rd, Dedecker 4th and Fluxa 5th. Thomas Quincé (Tony Kart/TM) took a good 7th place on the line, but was classified 9th after a lane penalty at the start. Maxens Verbrugge (Exprit/TM) was 10th for a long time, but finished in 11th place, and was placed 22nd for overtaking under the yellow flag. Andy Consani (Sodi/TM) was 23rd for the same reason. 15th on the line, Arthur Dorison (Tony Kart/Vortex) was 10th.
