The second round of the Champions of the Future Euro Series is taking place in Zuera with 73 OK-Junior drivers. The Qualifying sessions took place on Friday afternoon in beautiful sunshine and temperatures of 18°C. Each session lasted six minutes, but no one moved early on in the first three sessions, with the majority of the drivers starting 2′ from the end in search of slipstream. On a 1699m long circuit, it’s short but intense.
Jimmy Helias (Tony Kart/Vortex) started before everyone else in the first session. Jules Caranta set the best first lap in 1’02”969 and improved to 1’02”480 on his second run. Jindrich Pesl (Birel ART/TM) followed him by 0,230”, then Nikolas Roos (CRG/TM) in 3rd position ahead of Anatholy Kavalkhin (Parolin/TM) and Dmitry Matveev (Tony Kart/Vortex) in 5th. Guillaume Bouzar (Tony Kart/Vortex) took 8th place, Andy Consani (Sodi/TM) finished 17th and Helias 19th.
Nathan Tye (Sodi/TM) set the fastest time of the second session with 1’02”215 on his second lap, almost 2 tenths ahead of Miguel Costa (KR/Iame). Lewis Wherrell (Exprit/TM) was 3rd, 3 tenths behind René Lammers (Parolin/TM) and Thibaut Ramaekers (KR/Iame). Oleksandr Bondarev (LN/Vortex) was 7th, Arthur Dorison (KR/Iame) 11th while Lucas Fluxa Cross (KR/Iame) and Kirill Dzitiev (Tony Kart/Vortex) did not post a time.
Tiziano Monza (KR/Iame) took the lead with a time of 1’02”997 on the first lap of the third session. But Maciej Gladysz (LN/Vortex) was the fastest with 1’02”573 on the second lap. He was ahead of Nijs Lenn (KR/Iame) by 7 hundredths, Zhenrui Chi (KR/Iame) was 3rd followed by Monza and Martin Molnar (Energy/TM). Thomas Quincé (Tony Kart/TM) finished 20th.
