69 OK drivers took part in the Qualifying Practice for the Champions of the Future Euro Series in Zuera on Friday afternoon in sunny conditions at almost 20° Celsius.
Kean Nakamura-Berta (KR/Iame) was the fastest in the first run of the first session with a time of 1’01”193. He improved on his second lap – 1’00”672 – a hundredth better than Luigi Coluccio (Tony Kart/Vortex). Improvements were few and far between on the third lap. Oscar Pedersen (Tony Kart/Vortex) finished 3rd, a tenth behind, followed by Ean Eyckmans (Tony Kart/Vortex) in 4th and Eemeli Koivisto (Tony Kart/Vortex) in 5th.
In the second session, Cristian Bertuca (Birel ART/TM) was in the lead after the first lap with a time of 1’00’947. Joe Turney (Tony Kart/Vortex) was 1st on the second lap in 1’00’817, but then Yuanpu Cui (KR/Iame) was the fastest on the third lap in 1’00’792. Bertuca finished 3rd ahead of Tuukka Paponen (Tony Kart/Vortex) and Luka Sammalisto (Tony Kart/Vortex). Malo Bolliet (KR/Iame) was 11th, Enzo Deligny (Parolin/TM) 12th and Arthur Rogeon (KR/Iame) 18th.
For once, the first lap of Session 3 was not completed at full speed. Evan Giltaire (KR/Iame) put on the gas on the second lap in 1’00”602, which was for a short time the provisional pole position. Alex Powell (KR/Iame) then went on to set a time of 1’00”536 (second lap) and became the true poleman. David Walther (Tony Kart/Vortex) followed him by 7 thousandths on his third lap, Giltaire was 3rd at 66 thousandths. In 4th place Freddie Slater (LN/Vortex) followed by more than 2 tenths, ahead of his team-mate Dion Gowda (LN/Vortex).
