The weather was fine but still cold in Lonato on Sunday lunchtime for the last Prefinals of the WSK Champions Cup, those of the OK category.
Prefinal A
Dmitry Matveev (KR/Iame) made a good start ahead of Enea Frey (KR/Iame) and Kiano Blum (KR/Iame). Tereza Babickova (Tony Kart/TM) was soon back in P3. Martin Molnar (Energy/TM) was the fastest in 5th position. Matveev was distancing himself from the chasing pack. Molnar reached 3rd place on the 7th lap with the fastest time. He then attacked Frey for 2nd place, 1.1″ behind the leader Matveev. Matveev controlled the situation perfectly, increasing the pace if necessary. He set several fastest laps at the end of the race and won the race 1,5” ahead of Molnar. Frey finished 3rd, Blum 4th and Babickova 5th.
Prefinal B
David Walther (Tony Kart/Vortex) led ahead of Tomass Stolcermanis (Energy/TM), then Marcus Saeter (Tony Kart/Vortex), Guillaume Bouzar (Tony Kart/Vortex) and Aleksander Bogunovic (KR/Iame). Emanuele Olivieri (IPK/TM) did not finish the first lap. Bouzar quickly moved up to P3 and attacked Stolcermanis for 2nd place, 6 tenths behind his team-mate Walther. Stolcermanis regained 2nd place from Bouzar shortly after the halfway point. Maksimilian Popov (Tony Kart/Vortex) moved up 11 places and took 4th place from Saeter. Stolcermanis accelerated again at the end of the race in his pursuit of the leader while Popov dislodged his team mate Bouzar from P3. Walther nevertheless won 4 tenths ahead of Stolcermanis. Popov finished 3rd, Bouzar 4th and Bogunovic 5th. Andrea Dupe (Sodi/TM) was consistent in 14th position.
