The weather was fine again with only a few clouds in the sky in Sarno and 16° on the thermometer for the KZ2 Prefinals of the third round of the WSK Super Master Series.
Prefinal A
Cristian Bertuca (Birel ART/TM) chose to start from the outside, but Emilien Denner (Sodi/TM) started like a rocket. Bertuca recovered P1 at the end of the straight. Senna van Walstijn (Sodi/TM) followed in 3rd, Riccardo Longhi (Birel ART/TM) 4th and Alex Maragliano (Maranello/TM) 5th. Denner took the lead ahead of his team-mate van Walstijn, while Bertuca fell to 11th after a surprising drop in pace. Viktor Gustafsson (CRG/TM) was 3rd ahead of Maragliano and Jérémy Iglesias (CRG/TM). Arthur Carbonnel (CRG/TM) came back to 7th ahead of Adrien Renaudin (DR/Modena). Bertuca started a comeback to the top places. Denner was 8 tenths ahead of van Walstijn before the halfway point. Bertuca set a fastest lap in 6th position. While Denner took the lead, Maragliano moved up to 2nd at the expense of van Walstijn and Bertuca. The Italian reached P3 with two laps to go. Denner won the race a second ahead of Maragliano who controlled the return of Bertuca. Gustafsson finished 4th ahead of van Walstijn, Iglesias 6th, Renaudin 7th and Carbonnel 8th.
Prefinal B
Freddie Slater (Birel ART/TM) made an excellent start and took the lead, but Giuseppe Palomba (Birel ART/TM) recovered his position and Tom Leuillet (Tony Kart/Vortex) was 3rd ahead of Matteo Vigano (Birel ART/TM) and Paul Maximilian (DR/Modena). Slater conceded a few places, Leuillet moved up to 2nd, 8 tenths behind the leader Palomba. Daniel Vasile (Birel ART/TM)
entered the top five followed by Matteo Spirgel (Sodi/TM). Pedro Hiiltbrand (Birel ART/TM) had moved up nine places to 7th, with Slater setting the fastest time. Palomba extended his lead to 1.2″ over Leuillet, while Vigano closed in on Slater. Vigano quickly took P2, Slater followed in 3rd position, maintaining a high pace. Palomba did not push himself in the closing laps to secure his victory. Vigano controlled Salter in 3rd, Leuilet could do no better than 4th, Hiltbrand finished 5th (+11 places). Jean Nomblot (Sodi/TM) was 8th.
