The weather was superb on Sunday morning in Trinec for the Super Heats of the FIA Karting European Championship – OK.
Super Heat A: another success for Gomez
Maxens Verbrugge (Parolin/TM) did not take part in the race. Gabriel Gomez (CRG/Iame) made the best start ahead of Tomass Stolcermanis (Energy/TM) and Alex Powell (KR/Iame). Two incidents occurred during the first lap and six karts were left out. Gomez took the lead on the second lap. Mark Dubnitski (CRG/TM) was 4th while Sebastiano Pavan (Tony Kart/Vortex) was 5th. On lap 4, Gomez had a considerable lead of 1.8″ over Stolcemanis and Powell, followed by Pavan over Dubnitski. Gustav Wisniewski (Exprit/TM) had moved up to 6th place ahead of Miguel Costa (Parolin/TM), Fionn Mc Laughlin (KR/Iame) and Arthur Poulain (Tony Kart/Vortex). Jules Caranta (Energy/TM) made another comeback, 19th with 11 places gained. Gomez attempted a bold overtake on Wisniewski, but his manoeuvre was unsuccessful. Gomez added another win to his winning streak by gaining nearly 2 seconds ahead of Stolcermanis and Powell. Pavan finished 4th, Dubnitski 5th, Wisniewski 6th (+4 pl) and Costa 7th. Poulain was 9th, Caranta 14th (+16 pl) and Jimmy Hélias (CRG/Iame) 25th.
Super Heat B: Lammers impresses
Rene Lammers (Parolin/TM) broke away from the first lap 8 tenths ahead of Nathan Tye (Sodi/TM), then Kean Nakamura-Berta (KR/Iame), Matheus Morgatto (Birel ART/TM) and
Shimo Zhang (KR/Iame) in the top five. David Walther (Tony Kart/Vortex) had fallen to 9th place. Jan Przyrowski (Tony Kart/Vortex) had recovered nine places in 6th position. Morgatto was 3rd ahead of Nakamura-Berta who then had a run-in with Zhang. Ean Eyckmans (Tony Kart/Vortex) was 4th, Thomas Strauven (KR/Iame) 5th and Joe Turney (KR/Iame) 7th behind Walther. Lammers had a 2,6″ advantage on Tye at mid-race. Morgatto was 3rd 1,4″ further back. Lammers set the fastest time on the last lap and took the lead over Tye by more than 4,5″. Morgatto was 3rd at 0,384”, Strauven 4th and Eyckmans 5th. Turney was 6th (+4 pl) before falling 14th due to a spoiler penalty.
