Alternating with the OK-Junior class, Qualifying for the FIA Karting European OK Championship took up the early part of Friday afternoon. 62 drivers battled it out under grey skies that were improving, with temperatures of 21°C on the dry track at Rødby.
Session 1: Gladysz – 49”772
On the second lap, Dmitry Matveev (KR/Iame) was leading ahead of Joel Bergstrom (Birel ART/TM). Mattia Colnaghi (CRG/Iame) was then fastest on lap 3, followed by Yuanpu Cui (KR/Iame) and Tomass Stolcermanis (Energy/TM). Jules Caranta (Energy/TM) then took the lead on lap 4, with Arthur Poulain (Tony Kart/Vortex) 4th. Maciej Gladysz (LN/Vortex) set the fastest time – 49’772, 23 thousandths ahead of Stolcermanis and 51 thousandths ahead of Caranta in 3rd. Colnaghi was 4th, followed by Cui and Poulain.
Session 2: Khavalkin – 49”867
Senna van Walstijn (Sodi/TM) and Nathan Tye (Sodi/TM) followed each other in the lead after the second lap. Tye then improved against Kirill Kutskov (KR/Iame) and David Walther (Tony Kart/Vortex). Anatoly Khavalkin (Parolin/TM) was fastest on lap 4 ahead of Walther and Enzo Tarnvanichkul (KR/Iame). Kutskov then went under 50”, followed by Khavalkin who finally set the fastest time – 49”867 – on the 5th lap, 53 thousandths ahead of Kutskov. Walther remained 3rd, Kean Nakamura-Berta (KR/Iame) was 4th at 0.170” and Tye finished 5th ahead of Matheus Morgatto (Birel ART/TM). Gabriel Gomez (CRG/Iame) was 9th, van Walstijn 12th and Andrea Dupé (Sodi/TM) 14th.
Session 3: Lammers – 49”994
Alex Powell (KR/Iame) led on lap 2 ahead of Rene Lammers (Parolin/TM) and Thomas Strauven (KR/Iame). Mark Dubnitski (CRG/Iame) was 2nd on the next lap, followed by Ean Eyckmans (Tony Kart/Vortex). Lammers then came back into the lead and finished in 49’994 on his fifth lap. Miguel Costa (Parolin/TM) was 2nd at 0.129”, Strauven 3rd ahead of Powell and Joe Turney (KR/Iame) 5th at 2.5 tenths.
