Slightly cloudy skies and temperatures of 30° accompanied the Final of the European OK Championship in Cremona on Sunday afternoon. Rene Lammers (Parolin/TM) and Enzo Tarnvanichkul (KR/Iame) were on the front row of the grid ahead of Kean Nakamura-Berta (KR/Iame) and Ean Eyckmans (Birel ART/TM).
The slow procedure was triggered on the first lap due to a spectacular incident in the pack. The race was restarted on lap 4 with Lammers leading from Luigi Coluccio (ITA), Nakamura-Berta, Fionn Mc Laughlin (KR/Iame) and Tarnvanichkul 5th. Coluccio took the lead on the fifth lap. Nakamura-Berta and Tarnvanichkul overtook Lammers who was now 4th. Coluccio extended his lead to over 9 tenths on lap 9. Alex Powell (KR/Iame) was 6th behind McLaughlin with Dmitry Matveev (KR/Iame) 7th, Maciej Gladysz (LN/TM) 8th and David Walther (Tony Kart/Vortex) 9th ahead of Tomass Stolcermanis (Energy/TM). Louis Iglesias (CRG/Iame) crashed out to 29th position on lap 11. Powell moved up to 5th at the halfway point, before Matveev, Walther and Gladysz followed suit at the expense of McLaughlin. Coluccio was setting the fastest times at the front and his lead exceeded 1.5″, while the gaps between his pursuers became greater as the lap times continued to improve towards the end of the race. Coluccio took a fine victory 1.5” ahead of Tarnvanichkul and Nakamura-Berta. 4th with the fastest lap, Lammers took the Championship. Powell finished 5th (+4 places). Iglesias eventually retired and Arthur Poulain (KR/Iame) was 19th.
