The weather was fine and 25° on Sunday morning in Franciacorta for the OK-Junior Prefinals of the WSK Euro Series.
Prefinal A: Saleh well ahead of Costoya
Taym Saleh (KR/Iame) led ahead of Tiziano Monza (Parolin/TM) and Jack Iliffe (Parolin/TM), then Filippo Sala (LN/TM) and Scott Kin Lindblom (Tony Kart/Vortex). Christian Costoya (Parolin/TM) was 6th and Dries van Langendonck (Exprit/TM) 7th. Saleh had escaped from Monza and Sala. Costoya was 4th ahead of Davide Bottaro (Tony Kart/Vortex). Saleh had pulled away from his rivals in an insolent manner and won by almost 3” ahead of Costoya, who had climbed 7 places. Monza was 3rd, van Langendonck 4th and Arjen Kraling (KR/Iame) 5th. Thomas Quincé (Tony Kart/Vortex) finished 16th, Walter Schulz (KR/Iame) 18th and Aloïs Girardet (CRG/Iame) 20th.
Prefinal B: twists and turns before Ramaekers’ victory
Oleksandr Bondarev (KR/Iame) started in the lead, with Lewis Wherrell (Exprit/TM) moving up to 2nd ahead of Elliot Kaczynski (Tony Kart/Vortex) and Thibaut Ramaekers (KR/Iame). Maria Germano Neto (Tony Kart/Vortex) moved up to 4th, with Wherrell taking the lead. Ramaekers was 2nd ahead of Xiaoyo Sun (Tony Kart/Vortex), Andy Consani (Parolin/TM) and Neto. Louis Cochet (Sodi/TM) closed in on the top 10. Bondarev had retired, Kaczynski dropped back to 15th and Consani to 17th. Ramaekers took the lead at the halfway stage ahead of Sun and Wherrell. Alp Aksoy (Tony Kart/Vortex) and Kirill Dzitiev (Tony Kart/Vortex) had made up 10 places in 3rd and 4th. Ramaekers flew to victory, 2.4″ ahead of Wherrell, who was penalised afterwards in 8th place. Dzitiev took 2nd place, Aksoy 3rd and Sun 4th. Consany finished 11th and Cochet didn’t make it to the finish.
