The temperature rose to 30° in Wackersdorf at the start of the Final of the FIA Karting International Super Cup – KZ2 Masters under partly cloudy skies.
Davide Forè (Sodi/TM) jumped into the lead at lights out ahead of Daniel Bray (Parolin/TM) and Alessandro Manetti (CRG/TM). Thomas Mich (Birel ART/TM) had jumped into 4th place ahead of Mirko Mizzoni (Italcorse/TM). Forè already had a 1.4″ lead on lap 3. Just as he had given way to Manetti for 2nd place, Bray stopped and tapped his front right tyre. Mich was now 3rd 1.2″ behind Manetti. A number of drivers were vying for 3rd place: Mizzoni, Alessio La Martina (Birel ART/TM), Riccardo Nalon (Parolin/TM), Emanuele Simonetti (Parolin/TM), etc. La Martina came back to within 3 tenths of Mich. Manetti worked hard to reduce the gap to Forè by a second with a series of fastest laps. At the halfway point, Forè was 5 tenths ahead of Manetti. The duel between the two Italian champions seemed close. The gap was bridged on the 14th lap. Manetti wasn’t in a hurry, building up the pressure lap after lap. Further back, Mich was under threat from Mizzoni. Manetti attempted an attack on lap 21, but Forè was not to be denied and showed his determination, even if it meant Manetti had to bite the dust. The gap was back to over 6 tenths. Mizzoni and Simonetti hung on in pursuit of Mich. Manetti caught up with Forè on the last lap. Davide gave nothing away and won by 15 thousandths from his great rival. Mich secured a superb 3rd place 7 seconds later. Nalon finished 4th and La Martina 5th. Emmanuel Ducrot (Sodi/TM) was 18th (+7 pl) and Sébastien Leder (Sodi/TM) 20th (+13 pl).
