Sunday morning at Wackersdorf got off to a sunny start with temperatures of 23°C for the Super Heats of the FIA Karting International Super Cup – KZ Masters.
Super Heat A: Manetti ahead of Forè
Jeroen Bos (KR/TM) did not take the start, his kart having difficulty starting. Alessandro Manetti (CRG/TM) immediately took the lead over Davide Forè (Sodi/TM). Riccardo Nalon (Parolin/TM) was 3rd and Thomas Mich (Birel ART/TM) 4th, setting the fastest time on the third lap. The gap between the top two was no more than 2 tenths, with Nalon just 5 tenths behind Mich. In 5th place, Thomas Dehnel (Kosmic/TM) was 1 second back. Manetti began to pull away from Forè on lap 6, while Dehnel closed on Mich. Emanuele Simonetti (Parolin/TM) overtook Sven Salzmann (Birel ART/TM) for 6th position. Dehnel attacked Mich on lap 12 and moved up to 4th. Manetti secured victory with the fastest lap of the race 1.3” ahead of Forè. Nalon finished 3rd, Dehnel 4th and Mich 5th ahead of Simonetti. Gregory Leder (Sodi/TM) had moved up nine places to 13th, Sébastien Leder (Sodi/TM) was 15th.
Super Heat B: Bray dominates
Daniel Bray (Parolin/TM) held the lead at the start and was more than a second ahead of Andre Nicastro (Tony Kart/Vortex) on the first lap. Mirko Mizzoni (Italcorse/TM) took 2nd place on lap 2, while Roberto Profico (Tony Kart/Vortex) was 4th ahead of Alessio La Martina (Birel ART/TM). Emmanuel Ducrot (Sodi/TM) held on to 9th place. Brice De Gaye (Sodi/TM) had moved up seven places to 16th. At the halfway point, Bray was controlling his lead over Mizzoni, with Nicastro in 3rd place at 1.5”. La Martina had closed on Profico in 4th place. Ducrot crashed to 25th after an unorthodox move. Bray won with the fastest lap and a 2.5″ advantage over Mizzoni. Nicastro was 3rd, Profico 4th and La Martina 5th ahead of Rasmus Haugard (Tony Kart/Vortex). Yan Vuillermoz (Birel ART/TM) finished 14th (+10 pl), De Gaye 16th and Ducrot 25th (-16 pl).
Bray was in pole position for the final alongside Forè, ahead of Manetti and Mizzoni, then Nicastro and Nalon. Mich was 8th, Ducrot 25th, Sébastien and Grégory Leder 33rd and 34th.
