On Saturday morning, the Champions of the Future Euro Series in Franciacorta got underway with the Super Heats under slightly cloudy skies and a temperature of 21°C for the 72 qualifiers. Two new tyres by some had an impact on performance.
Super Heat 1: Ramaekers narrowly beat Wherrell
Lewis Wherell (Exprit/TM) maintained his advantage at the start, while Thibaut Ramaekers (KR/Iame) moved into 2nd place ahead of Stepan Antonov (KR/Iame). Jack Iliffe (Parolin/TM) was 4th and Jensen Burnett (LN/TM) 5th. Ramaekers took P1 on the second lap, Iliffe was 3rd and Scott Marsh (Tony Kart/Vortex) 5th. Christian Costoya (Parolin/TM) was delayed at the start and was 7th. Iliffe was 2nd and Antonov 3rd, overtaking Wherrell. Oleksandr Bondarev (KR/Iame) retired early, as did Marsh. At the halfway stage, Iliffe was less than 2 tenths behind Ramaekers. The American briefly took the lead before dropping back to 10th after Ramaekers reacted. Antonov was 2nd, 2 tenths behind the leader, but Wherrell attacked him for P2. Costoya had moved up to 4th ahead of Augustus Toniolo (KR/Iame). Aloïs Girardet (CRG/TM) made a strong comeback around 20th place. Ramaekers narrowly beat Wherrell. Antonov finished 3rd, Costoya 4th and Toniolo 5th. Iliffe was 8th ahead of Joel Pohjola (Gillard/TM) +11 places. Girardet was 22nd (+13 pl) and Elia Weiss (Redspeed/TM) 27th.
Super Heat 2: winning comeback for Lindblom
Kirill Dzitiev (Tony Kart/Vortex) and Iacopo Martinese (KR/Iame) got off to a good start ahead of Elliot Kaczynski (Tony Kart/Vortex), Scott Kin Lindblom (Tony Kart/Vortex) and Andy Consani (Parolin/TM) as a spectacular group incident cleared the field. Kaczynski lost three places to Martinese and Dries van Langendonck (Exprit/TM). Consani was 5th. Lindblom attacked Dzitiev for P1 on the sixth lap. Zac Drummond (Parolin/TM) was 5th and Louis Cochet (Sodi/TM) returned to the top 10. Van Langendonck attacked Martinese for 3rd place, then overtook Dzitiev for P2. Alfie Slater (LN/TM) pulled off a fine manoeuvre to move up to 7th (+12 pl). Lindblom won by 6 places. Van Langendonck followed by 3 tenths. Dzitiev finished 3rd, Drummond 4th and Martinese 5th ahead of Consani. Cochet retained his 10th position.
