The weather was overcast on Sunday morning, but the Sarno track had largely dried out for the Mini U10 Prefinals of Round 2 of the WSK Euro Series.
Prefinal A: Venant narrowly beats Frasnelli
Antoine Venant (KR/Iame) led at the start ahead of Julian Frasnelli (Parolin/Iame), while several drivers left the track at Turn 2 on a wet patch. Henri Kumpen (Parolin/Iame) was 3rd ahead of Elton Herdfors (Intrepid/TM). Frasnelli took the lead on the second lap, Hedfors was 3rd, Antonio Ianni (KR/Iame) 4th and Kumpen 5th. Venant regained the lead on lap 3. In the middle of the battle, the two frontrunners had distanced themselves from the chasing group by more than 4″. Frasnelli tried to attack several times on the final lap, but Venant won by 23 thousandths on the line. Kumpen finished 3rd, 6″ ahead of Ianni and Hedfors.
Prefinal B: Nanni at the last moment
Albert Tamm (Parolin/Iame) was leading Oleksandr Legenkyi (KR/Iame) on the first lap, followed by Alessandro Nanni (EKS/TM), Daniel Miron Lorente (KR/Iame) and Achille Rea (Tony Kart/Vortex). Legenkiy and Nanni got the better of Tamm on the second lap and then extended their lead. Jean Poujol (Parolin/Iame) gradually made up ground in 7th position, followed by Xavier Lazaro (DR/TM), who was delayed off track on the first lap. Miron Lorente then closed the gap on the leading duo. Legenkyi made a small mistake on the final lap and Nanni went on to win 5 tenths ahead of Miron Lorente. Legenkyi followed in 3rd place, a second ahead of Rea and Tamm. Poujol finished 8th.
