The KZ2 Prefinals of the WSK Final Cup took place in sunny Lonato on Sunday lunchtime, with a temperature of 13°.
Prefinal A: Bertuca in top form
Alex Maragliano (Sodi/TM) took off ahead of Cristian Bertuca (Birel ART/TM), Daniel Stell (KR/Iame) was 3rd, Maksim Orlov (Parolin/TM) 4th and Menyhert Kroszer (KR/TM) 5th. Bertuca regained the lead from Marigliano after half the race and escaped. Orlov became impatient and passed Stell for 3rd place on lap 10, but the German fought back. He even took 2nd place from Maragliano. Bertuca won by a wide margin, 1.8 seconds ahead of Stell, who set the fastest lap. After Stell’s spoiler penalty, Orlov took 2nd place ahead of Juliano Holzem (Sodi/TM), with Maragliano finishing 4th. Enzo Lacreuse (DR/TM) had lost ground early in the race to finish 15th.
Prefinal B: Trefilov ahead of Zanchi
Matteo Zanchi (CRG/TM) got off to a good start ahead of Markus Kajak (Birel ART/Modena), while Maximilian Paul (DR/Modena) moved straight into 3rd place followed by David Trefilov (Maranello/TM) and Ken Oscar Algre (Maranello/TM). Tom Leuillet (Tony Kart/Vortex) had moved up three places to 6th. Zanchi quickly distanced Kajak and his pursuers. Very fast, Leuillet fought to regain ground in the top five while Zanchi proved to be slower from the fifth lap. Trefilov had moved up to 3rd in Kajak’s wake. Leuillet followed in 4th ahead of Paul. Trefilov moved up to 2nd, but Leuillet dropped back from 3rd to 5th. The two frontrunners were 3 seconds ahead of the chasing group led by Kajak. Trefilov put pressure on Zanchi and managed to overtake him on lap 14 to take the lead. Trefilov won the race 4 tenths ahead of Zanchi. Kajak was 3rd by more than 3 seconds, Leuillet 4th (+5 places) 3 tenths. Dorian Guldenfels (Birel ART/TM) remained 21st.
