Friday got off to a cool start at Franciacorta for the second and final round of the WSK Final Cup. From the 2°C of the first warm-up, the temperature rose in the sun to 6°C for the Qualifying of the 85 OK-Junior drivers. Not many drivers were on track before the halfway point of the session.
Session 1: Rocchio – 47″892
Eliott Kaczynski (Tony Kart/Vortex) was one of the first drivers to get into action, David Cosma Cristofor (KR/Iame) then climbed to the top of the rankings ahead of Kit Belofsky (Sodi/TM). Thomas Quincé (Tony Kart/Vortex) was in the top three, followed by Niklas Schaufler (KR/Iame). Gino Rochio (DR/TM) finished 1st with a fourth lap of 47″892, 52 thousandths ahead of Schaufler. Cosma Cristofor was 3rd, nearly a tenth off the pace, Quincé 5th ahead of Belofsky and Christian Costoya (Parolin/TM), then Lewis Wherrell (Exprit/TM) and Iskender Zulfikari (KR/Iame).
Session 2: Pesl – 47″956
On the second lap, Xiayou Sun (Tony Kart/Vortex) was in the lead. Filippo Sala (LN/TM) regained the lead on the third lap, closing to within 47″. Jindrich Pesl (Intrepid/TM) was finally the fastest in 47″956 ahead of Sebastian Lehtimaki (Tony Kart/Vortex) and Sun. Sala finished 4th and Iacopo Martinese (KR/Iame) 5th.
Session 3: Van Langendonck – 47″760
Davide Bottaro (Tony Kart/Vortex) overtook Arjen Kraeling (KR/Iame) on the second lap. Dries Van Langendonck (Exprit/TM) then regained the lead and took pole position in 47″760 on his 4th lap. Bottaro followed 13 thousandths behind Roman Kamyab (LN/TM), Kraeling and Mes Houben (Birel ART/TM). Louis Cochet (Sodi/TM) finished 11th.
