Under a clear blue sky, Franciacorta showed a temperature of 11° for the OK Final of the WSK Final Cup.
After two extra formation laps at a blistering pace, the green lights finally kicked off the race. Dmitry Matveev (KR/Iame) led from Anatoly Khavalkin (Parolin/TM), Sebastiano Pavan (Tony Kart/Vortex) and Vivek Kanthan (Parolin/TM). Behind Pavan, who took 2nd, Kanthan easily overtook his team-mate Khavalkin. David Walther (Tony Kart/Vortex) and Gustaw Wisniewski (Tony Kart/Iame) followed in the top five. Khavalkin was back in 3rd place under threat from Walther. Kanthan lost several places at once to Luigi Coluccio (Tony Kart/Vortex) 5th, Ean Eyckmans (Birel ART/TM) 6th and Thibaut Ramaekers (KR/Iame) 7th. The leading Matveev/Pavan duo had distanced themselves from the chasing group by 1.4″ shortly before the halfway point. Luviwe Sambudla (KR/Iame) moved up 12 places to 11th. Pavan went on the attack on lap 10 and took P1. Eyckmans, the fastest driver at the time, moved up nine places to 3rd ahead of Khavalkin. Pavan gradually pulled away from Matveev, who didn’t need to win to take the Championship. On lap 14, Ramaekers overtook Khavalkin for 4th position and then attacked his compatriot Eyckmans to move up to 3rd. Matveev had to manage his defence to keep his place on the final lap. Pavan won by almost 5 tenths over Matveev, who was crowned WSK Final Cup Champion. Ramaekers took a superb 3rd place ahead of Eyckmans and Khavalkin.
