The temperature rose gently at Franciacorta to 7°C for the OK Prefinals of the WSK Final Cup.
Prefinal A: Khavalkin holds off Matveev
Anatoly Khavalkin (Parolin/TM) immediately took 1st position ahead of Vivek Kanthan (Parolin/TM), Simone Bianco (CRG/Iame) and Taym Saleh (KR/Iame), while Dmitry Matveev (KR/Iame) dropped back to 5th. The battle was tight in the top four, completed by Gustaw Winiewski (Tony Kart/Iame). Matveev moved up to 2nd place ahead of Wisniewski and Luigi Coluccio (Tony Kart/Vortex), then closed in on the leader. Matveev attacked on the final lap but Khavalkin fought back to take the win. Wisniewski finished 3rd, Oleksandr Bondarev (KR/Iame) 4th and Coluccio 5th. Andrea Dupé (KR/Iame) had made up some ground to finish 17th.
Prefinal B: strong domination by Pavan
Sebastiano Pavan (Tony Kart/Vortex) immediately took the lead ahead of Xavier Aramides (KR/Iame), Zac Drummond (Parolin/TM), Thibaut Ramaekers (KR/Iame) and Matheus Morgatto (Birel ART/TM). Jan Przyrowski (Tony Kart/Vortex) moved up to fourth ahead of Emanuele Olivieri (Birel ART/TM), while Drummond lost several places. Pavan had extended his lead to 3.5″ at the halfway stage. Clément Outran (KR/Iame) had retired after 6 laps. Pavan won by a large margin, 2.2″ ahead of Ramaekers, while Przyrowski finished 3rd, more than 5″ back. David Walther (Tony Kart/Vortex) was 4th and Lenn Nijs (KR/Iame) 5th with a gain of eight places.
