The sun had dropped well below the Bahrain horizon for the DD2 Qualifying Practice for the 2023 RMCGF with Birel ART chassis. The action intensified towards the end of the two sessions.
Odd: Veerus – 52”492
Ragnar Veerus (EST) set the fastest time at 52’492 on his final lap, ahead of Jakub Bezel (CZE) by 57 thousandths and Rasmus Fridell (SWE) by 62 thousandths. Philipp Moitzi (AUT) was 4th and Sebastien Boyd (ZAF) 5th. Noa Hipp (FRA) was a creditable 9th, while Kylian Guérin (FRA) was 13th.
Pairs: Baccaglini – 52”346
Provisional pole position was quickly beaten by Harrison Hoey (AUS). Leonardo Baccaglini (ITA) improved shortly afterwards, while Antoine Barbaroux (FRA) moved back into the top five. Confident, Baccaglini returned to the pits before the end of the session with pole position – 52”346. Hoey finished 2nd at 26 thousandths, then Daniel Mualiem 3rd at 0.123”. Axel Saarmiala (FIN) was 4th and Barbaroux 5th. Antoine Broggio (FRA) finished 14th and Anthony Millet (FRA) 16th.
