Conditions were ideal in Bahrain on Saturday afternoon for the Junior MAX Final of the 2023 RMCGF, with full sunshine and a temperature of 26°. Louis Comyn (FRA) started from P1 with Timo Jungling (GBR) alongside him. Comyn was leading on the first lap ahead of Luca Houghton (BHR) and Jungling, while two other Frenchmen, Tom Dussol and Thomas Pradier completed the top five. Luka Scelles (FRA) had moved up nine places to 10th. Comyn and Jungling got away slightly from Dussol and Houghton in the middle of a duel. Max Walton (AUS) moved up to 5th. Jungling took the lead on the fifth lap. Kenzo Craigie returned to the top 10 behind Scelles. Houghton took the lead on lap 6 ahead of Jungling and Walton, followed by Comyn in 4th and Dussol in 5th. Beau Lowette (BEL) joined the fray in the top five as Jungling regained P1.
At the halfway stage, Houghton was 2nd and Comyn 3rd. Comyn came back into the lead on the 10th of the 18 laps. Dussol fell to 32nd after an incident with Craigie. The gaps in the field suddenly widened on this 12th lap. Santeri Laitonen (FIN) moved into the top five by moving up 22 places. Comyn was under threat from Jungling, Lowette was ahead of Houghton and then Derek King (ECU) in 5th place with three laps to go. Jungling attacked on the penultimate lap ahead of Lowette and Comyn, then Houghton. The last lap confirmed the hierarchy with Jungling winning 5 tenths ahead of Lowette, then Comyn 3rd by 1.5”. Houghton was later penalised 9th and Laitonen finished 4th ahead of King. Pradier was 16th with a penalty, Dussol 26th and Scelles 28th with a penalty.
