The OK-Junior Prefinals of the WSK Champions Cup took place in Lonato in bitterly cold conditions despite the sunshine.
Prefinal A: Van Langendonck ahead of Costoya
Christian Costoya (Parolin/TM) defended his P1 against Dries van Langendonck (Exprit/TM) and Dean Hoogenddorn (KR/Iame), while Rocco Coronel (KR/Iame) was only 4th ahead of Arjen Kraling (KR/Iame). Kit Belofsky (Sodi/TM) got off to a good start in 7th place (+6 places). Thomas Pradier (KR/Iame) was back in the top 10. Van Langendonck took the lead on the fourth lap. Borys Lyzen (Sodi/TM) overtook his team-mate Belofsky on lap 5. Coronel was back in 3rd place on lap 7, more than a second behind the leading duo where Costoya was not letting Van Langendonck get away. Pradier attacked Lyzen for P7. Costoya attacked Van Langendonck with two laps to go, but the Belgian fought back. Endo Arata (Tony Kart/Vortex) battled with Kraling for 4th place. Van Langendonck beat Costoya, Coronel finished 3rd at 0.264”, Kraling 4th and Arata 5th. Matéo Rivals (Sodi/TM) did not start.
Prefinal B: Schaufler
Niklas Schaufler (KR/Iame) led at the start ahead of Roman Kamyab (LN/TM) and Filippo Sala (LN/TM). Aloïs Girardet (Energy/TM) moved up five places to 7th position. Henry Domain (Energy/TM) was 3rd ahead of Kamyab. Behind Alexander Chartier (Parolin/TM), Girardet attacked Vladimir Ivannikov (Energy/TM) for 6th position. Téo Battisti (Sodi/TM) had retired after three laps. Sala overtook Schaufler on lap 10 for P1, but the Austrian regained control. Domain, who had been closing in, then moved up to 2nd ahead of Sala and Kamyab. Schauffler was 5 tenths ahead of Domain. Sala passed Kamyab for 3rd place, Ivannikov was 5th and Girardet 7th.
