The first round of the WSK Super Master Series got underway at Lonato on Friday morning with Qualifying Practice for the 82 OK-Junior drivers entered. The sky was clear and the temperature did not exceed 5°.
Session 1: Schaufler – 47”145
Dries van Langendonck (Exprit/TM) set the fastest time on the second lap until Niklas Schaufler (KR/Iame) got the better of him. The Austrian improved by 2 tenths on the third lap and took the lead with a fifth lap time of 47”145, followed by van Langendonck at 48 thousandths. Lehtimaki was 3rd, ahead of Arjen Kräling (KR/Iame) and Mats van Roojen (Tony Kart/Vortex). Borys Lyzen (Sodi/TM) was 15th, Matéo Rivals (Sodi/TM) finished 22nd, Théo Battisti (Sodi/TM) 24th and Lilian Soares (Redspeed/Vortex) only completed one lap. Dean Hoogendoorn (KR/Iame) did not take to the track.
Session 2: Costoya – 46”957
Rocco Coronel (KR/Iame) replaced Ryutaro Sakai (CRG/TM) at the top of the order on his third run. François Kerdal (CRG/TM) then took over, followed by Jack Illife (Exprit/TM). But in the end it was Christian Costoya (Parolin/TM) who was fastest in 46’957. Illife finished 2nd at 0.124” ahead of Qarrar Firhand (Parolin/TM), Iacopo Martinese (KR/Iame) and Coronel.
Session 3: Lindblom – 47”034
Filippo Sala (LN/TM) was fastest on the second lap ahead of Luke Kordner (Exprit/TM) and Louis Cochet (KR/Iame). Scott Lindblom (Tony Kart/Vortex) then regained the lead with a fourth lap time of 47”034. Sala followed at 78 thousandths, then Augustus Toniolo (KR/Iame), Kordner and Scott Marsh (Tony Kart/Vortex). Cochet finished 6th and Aloïs Girardet (Energy/TM) 18th ahead of Kit Belofsky (Sodi/TM).
