The rain had stopped and the sun was breaking through the cloud cover, but the Sarno track remained very wet for the OK-Junior Final of the WSK Super Master Series. Niklas Schaufler (KR/Iame) led after the start, followed by Dean Hoogendoorn (KR/Iame), Lev Krutogolov (Tony Kart/Iame), Iskender Zulfikari (KR/Iame) and Christian Costoya (Parolin/TM) in 5th place. Krutogolov attacked Hoogendoorn for P2. Schaufler was 1.2″ ahead on the second lap. Dries van Langendonck (Exprit/TM) slipped into 4th position. Krutogolov was closing on Schaufler’s lead and van Langendonck had moved up to 3rd ahead of Hoogendoorn, while Costoya, still a long way back in 5th, was coming back at a furious pace. Schaufler reacted with a better time to give himself a lead from Krutogolov. In 4th place, Costoya became a threat to van Langendonck. The overtake for P3 took place on the 11th of the 13 laps. Endo Arata (Tony Kart/Vortex) had overtaken Hoogendoorn for 5th position. Schaufler took a masterly victory 1.1″ ahead of Krutogolov. Costoya finished 3rd on the line, but was then penalised to 4th ahead of Arata and it was van Langendonck who took 3rd place on the podium.
Championship podium.
