Rain returned to Valencia during the lunch break of the first round of the Champions of the Future Euro Series. The OK-Junior Final was run on Maxxis rain tyres in temperatures of 10°C on a track that was fully wet.
The battle was on from the start between Dries van Langendonck (Exprit/TM) and Niklas Schaufler (KR/Iame), the latter being very incisive and taking the lead on the first lap despite a severely cut corner. Rocco Coronel (KR/Iame) was 3rd ahead of Roman Kamyab (LN/TM) and Dean Hoogendoorn (KR/Iame), who had moved up 11 places. There were more and more run-offs, particularly for Thomas Pradier (KR/Iame) who had to retire. Schaufler led by 1.2” on lap 5, but van Langendonck remained fast. Coronel moved up to 2nd place as the halfway mark approached and set the fastest lap. Christian Costoya (Parolin/TM) lost time and was 12th on lap 8. Iacopo Martinese (KR/Iame) closed in on P4 occupied by Hoogendoorn and took it on lap 10. Kenzo Craigie (KR/Iame) was 6th ahead of Filippo Sala (LN/TM). Coronel attacked Schaufler and took the lead. Kit Belofsky (KR/Iame) had moved up 24 places to 7th place with the second fastest time. Arjen Kräling (KR/Iame) retired. Coronel broke away at a fast pace in the lead and took a big victory in the rain 3;3” ahead of Schaufler. Van Langendonck finished 3rd 5” further back. Hoogendoorn was 4th (+12 places), and Craigie 5th.Belofsky took 6th place (+25 places) ahead of Nikita Nikishov (KR/Iame), with Borys Lyzen (Sodi/TM) finishing 8th (+28 places). 13 drivers, including Martinese and Costoya, failed to finish.
