At the age of 24, Brit Lando Norris has just scored his first F1 victory at the Miami Grand Prix with the McLaren team. Like all motor sport enthusiasts, the members of KSP Kartcom were delighted to witness this major event in Lando’s career, which confirms his undeniable talent. From that point of view, the Miami race was as interesting as it was enjoyable. Fate was on Lando’s side with the safety car’s favourable role in his success, but the young Englishman’s victory delighted everyone. This win has a special flavour everyone who experienced the rise of the new winner since his karting days.
Our time machine worked at full speed to remember the 2013 and 2014 seasons. KSP Photo Agency had been chosen by Lando’s family to provide photos of international events, while Kartcom produced regular articles for his team, Ricky Flynn Motorsport. In 2013, Lando won a very close European Junior Championship in his first season in KF-Junior, while Max Verstappen triumphed in both KF and KZ. Charles Leclerc was hot on Max’s heels that same year in the World KZ Championship at Varennes-sur-Allier. These three drivers met up again 11 years later on the F1 podium in Miami, where the two older drivers made no secret of their delight at seeing Lando win.
In 2014, at the age of 14, Lando Norris raced in the senior KF category and won the World Championship at Aunay-les-Bois, while RFM secured an historic double with Enaam Ahmed’s Junior world title. Lando was something of an unusual figure in karting at the time, with his small frame reminiscent of Nyck De Vries and his extremely rapid rise through the ranks during his two seasons of international competition. At the time, RFM was one of the top teams in the sport, and with its FA Kart chassis produced by OTK and its Vortex engines prepared by ONE Engine, nothing could stand in its way. All these beautiful memories are engraved in our memories but are also available in the archives of KSP Photo Agency and Kartcom. It is with a touch of pride that KSP Reportages thanks Lando Norris for having placed his trust in us.
On the first weekend of May, the National Series Karting launched its 2024 championship on the Varennes-sur-Allier circuit. This French series, dedicated mainly to Rotax engines, represents the very best in French karting. Created 13 years ago by Sodikart through its 3MK Events department, it has since offered a high standard of organisation, and its success is undeniable. At Varennes, 243 drivers competed in Mini 60, National, Max Senior, Max Master, DD2 and DD2 Master classes in variable weather conditions, culminating in sunny Finals. As always, the Varennes circuit provided thrilling racing at all levels, with a twist right down to the final metres.
