The Mondokart.com FIA Karting European Championship – KZ kicked off on Friday afternoon with 26 drivers taking part in Qualifying Practice at Alcaniz, in sunny conditions with temperatures of 31°. The drivers entered the track between 3’30 and 3′ from the end of the session.
Adrien Renaudin (DR/Modena) got off to a fast start ahead of Arthur Carbonnel (CRG/TM) on the first lap. Viktor Gustafsson (CRG/TM) was ahead of Giuseppe Palomba (Sodi/TM) on the second lap and took pole position in 59”323 with a lead of a tenth. Senna van Walstijn (Sodi/TM) took 3rd place 3 thousandths further back, while Tom Leuillet (OTK/Vortex) finished 4th ahead of Danilo Albanese (KR/Iame). The 2nd Frenchman, Yohan Soguel (Sodi/TM) set a very good 6th time, ahead of Stan Pex (KR/TM) and Lorenzo Travisanutto (Parolin/TM), while Jérémy Iglesias (CRG/TM) and Emilien Denner (Sodi/TM) completed the top 10. Carbonel finished 15th and Renaudin 22nd.
