The Alcaniz track was completely dry on Sunday morning for the Super Heat of the Mondokart.com FIA Karting European Championship – KZ2 Masters on the MotorLand Aragón circuit in Spain. The temperature had dropped to 17°.
Anthony Abbasse (Sodi/TM) got off to the best start ahead of Davide Foré (Birel ART/TM). Kristijan Habulin (TB Kart/TM) was 3rd, Alessio La Martina (KR/Iame) 4th and Roberto Profico (OTK/Vortex) 5th ahead of Thomas Mich (Birel ART/TM). Foré attacked Abbasse on lap 3 and regained P1. The Frenchman set off in pursuit of the Italian champion, renowned for his resilience. Abbasse slipped through a mousehole on the inside on lap 7 and regained the lead. Habulin took advantage of the situation to join the battle. Profico was 4th by 2”, followed by Riccardo Nalon (Parolin/TM). The gaps grew as the laps went by. Abbasse won by 3.6 tenths from Foré, with Habulin 3rd at 7 tenths. Nalon, who set the fastest time, followed in 4th at 1.8″, then Profico in 5th ahead of Mich. Brice De Gaye (CRG/TM) finished 12th, Grégory Leder (Sodi/TM) 15th, Sébastien Leder (Sodi/TM) 17th ahead of Ennio Gandolfi (OTK/Vortex) and Emmanuel Ducrot (Sodi/TM) 22nd.
